I am fully trained and qualified to supervise the work of experienced counsellors, newly qualified counsellors, student counsellors, voluntary “helpers” and “support workers”. In order to accommodate this wide variety of therapeutic expertise, I favour the cyclical, developmental, and process models of supervision which encourage in-depth and flexible exploration. I have many resources available which I am willing to share with supervisees. The feedback I receive suggests that supervisees find my supervision energizing, motivating and rewarding and I hope you will too.
I have supervised students undertaking training at Sheffield University, Leeds University, Doncaster College, Rotherham College, Dearne Valley College and Barnsley College. Whether you are undertaking a Diploma or MA course, I will see you on a one-to-one basis in accordance with the requirements of your course protocols and BACP's Ethical Framework, and ensure I hold all data in line with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The four-way contract between student, education provider, practical placement provider and myself, sets the context for our work.
Having the time, space and support in which to explore and reflect upon your work ensures you are safe and effective with your clients. Consequently, I encourage all my supervisees to engage in a period of reflection prior to attending supervision. This creates a more productive session. Simply review your client work over the past few weeks and note down what surfaces.
